SCHOMP, George Alvin, age 69, of Toms River, died on September 18, 2013. Born in Dover, NJ and raised in Hoboken, he lived in Garfield for 41 years before settling in Toms River 3 years ago. George was a Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1969. He was the production manager at McCain Ellio’s Foods, Inc. in Lodi retiring in 2009. He was a proud 35 year member of Garfield Fire Dept Engine Company 3 serving as Lieutenant and Secretary and also a member of the NJ State Exempt Firemen’s Association. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Carol (nee McMahon ), two sons, Christopher B. and his wife Vania, and Michael G., one daughter KimberlyAnn, and nine grandchildren, Michael Jr., Kyle, Matthew, Ashley, Jason, Cynthia, Gracie, Steven and Leah. Also survived by his brother, Edward, his sister Carol Ann Strauch, his aunt Carol Mealia and many, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will meet his infant grandson Nicholas for the first time in heaven. The funeral is Tuesday, Sept. 24, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 930 am followed by a 1:30pm burial service at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ (609-738-2400). Visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Schomp family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
