MANNING, Helen (nee Zacharschenko), age 89, of Garfield, died on October 27, 2014. Born in Ukraine, she lived in Germany and Belgium before moving to Saddle Brook, Garfield, and Elmwood Park. As a young girl she was taken from her mother by the Germans to work at a labor camp for four years until the end of WWII. She worked in the food industry as a personal chef for the Armour Family in Lake Forest, IL, and previously, she owned John’s Delicatessen, Elmwood Park, in the 60’s where she was known for her cole slaw. She is predeceased by her first husband, Henry Wisniewski in 1974, and her second husband, George R. Manning in June of 2014. She is survived by a daughter, Adrianne Nicastro and husband John, a son, Raymond Wisniewski and wife Patricia, a step-son, George and wife Andrea, a step-daughter, Kimberly, 9 grandchildren, John Nicastro Jr., Denise Collova and husband Chris, Raymond Wisniewski, Jr. and wife Laurie, Katharine Saville and husband Chris, Ali, Guy, Jaclyn, Julianna, and Jessica, and 6 great-grandchildren, Natasha, Camryn, Brooke, Alli, Brett, and Zack. Visiting Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Service will be private. Interment S.S. Peter and Paul RO Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
