DONZELLA, Girolamo “Sal”, age 83, of Garfield, died on November 21, 2015. Born in Pozzallo, Sicily-Italy, he settled in Garfield 53 years ago. He served in the Italian Navy, was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Garfield, and was an avid bowler on the BASF Team at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park where he bowled many perfect 300 games. In addition, he was a great wine maker and enjoyed sharing that with family and friends. Sal retired in 2004 from B.A.S.F. in Lodi and was a member of the Teamsters Local 573. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie (nee Tamburro), four children, Pietrina McGowan, Annette Donzella, Maria Donzella, and Bart Donzella and wife Susan, and two grandchildren, Nicole and Ashley. He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Andy McGowan, a brother, Giovanni, and a sister, Antoinetta Giudice. Visiting Monday 3 to 7 pm. The funeral is Tuesday, November 24, 2015, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home followed by a mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Garfield. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Valley Hospice.
