Joseph “The Owl” Guarino

GUARINO, Joseph “The Owl”, age 79, of Saddle Brook, died on November 24, 2015. Born and raised in Lodi, he settled in Saddle Brook 37 years ago. He started his career as a black seal boiler operator, then managed The Rams Horn and The Jolly Smuggler in Garfield, and Bottoms Up in North Bergen for over 25 years, and for a short time, he was a truck driver for Associated Florist in Rochelle Park. He was also a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Saddle Brook. He is predeceased by four brothers, Jim, Bernie, Sam, and Charlie Guarino. He is survived by his devoted life companion of 44 years, Diane Rosol, his dear son, Joseph Guarino, Jr. and his wife Evelyn, his twin granddaughters, Lisa and Jennifer, a sister, Claire Guarino, and two sisters-in-love, Barbara Mayerchak and Maryann Berger. Visiting Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Monday, November 30, 2015, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a 10:30 am mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Saddle Brook. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack. The Guarino family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
