Sarah Brunetti
BRUNETTI, Sarah (nee LaCorte), age 94, a lifelong resident of Garfield, passed away on December 30, 2012. Sarah worked for 24 years as a clerk in the City of Garfield Tax Assessor’s office retiring in 1983. In her early career she worked as a seamstress. Sarah always said “In life we are making memories”, always putting her children first. Her strengths were her unconditional love, wisdom, compassion, and perseverance to overcome any obstacle, including the death of her husband at age 39. Her goal, stated over and over, was that each of her children graduate from college. Not only did each of her children graduate from college, but all went on to successful careers in teaching, law, business and medicine. She had boundless generosity for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, and for all she met. As difficult a life as she had, working day and night to sustain her children, she always said “count your blessings.” In her usual unselfish way, she attributed all she hoped to be and achieve to her mother and her faith in God. While thinking of her children, she never complained about her circumstances, making sacrifice after sacrifice for each of them. Sarah lived in this world with love for all.
